Grant Recognition Guidelines

Congratulations on your grant from Tahoe Community Foundation! We are excited to collaborate with you to share your work. We encourage you to share your grant in one or more of the following ways: send a press release, include your grant in e-blasts or email newsletters, mention us in annual reports or other publications, and/or post on social media or your website. Not only does this inform the community about your organization’s great work, it can also encourage more giving. We ask that you please acknowledge the source of your grant in all publicity using the guidelines below.

Grant Acknowledgement

  • This program was funded by a grant from the [NAME OF FUND] held at Tahoe Community Foundation

The grant letter or agreement you receive with your grant check will specify the exact name of the fund.

Please always refer to the Community Foundation as “Tahoe Community Foundation”. You may use “Community Foundation” after the first reference.

For specific funds and examples, please see below:

Community Impact Fund Grants:

“The (project) is supported by a Community Impact Grant from Tahoe Community Foundation.”

Example:
“The Youth Education Program is supported by a Community Impact Grant from Tahoe Community Foundation.”

Action Grants:

“The (project) is supported by an Action Grant from Tahoe Community Foundation.”

Example:
“The new computers were supported by an Action Grant from Tahoe Community Foundation.”

Community Partnership Grants:

“The (project) is supported by a Community Partnership grant from Tahoe Community Foundation.”

Example:
The new development was supported by a Community Partnership Grant from Tahoe Community Foundation.”

Lahontan Community Foundation Grant:

“The (project) is supported by a grant from the Lahontan Community Foundation Fund held at Tahoe Community Foundation.”

Example:
“The Youth Education Program is supported by a grant from the Lahontan Community Foundation Fund held at Tahoe Community Foundation.”

Donor Advised Fund Grants:

“The (name of Fund) Fund held at Tahoe Community Foundation” (If the fund is anonymous, simply use “Tahoe Community Foundation.”)

Example:
“This project is supported by The Jones Family Fund held at Tahoe Community Foundation.”

Publicity Guidlines

  • Contact the news media. Write or send a press release about the grant your organization received and how the grant will be used. Include community newspapers, online outlets, or special interest publications. Please send this to the Community Foundation for approval prior to disseminating. For a quote from the Tahoe Community Foundation, please contact: marketing@tahoecf.org
  • Include news of your grant in any materials your organization distributes. This includes newsletters, brochures, annual reports, board minutes, lists of supporters, website and social media. For a quote from the Tahoe Community Foundation, please contact: marketing@tahoecf.org
  • Link directly to www.tahoecf.org and/or the appropriate foundation page in your digital communication.
  • Tag the Community Foundation in your social media posts. All social media information can be found below. Be sure to follow us too for updates and information about grant application cycles!
  • Include the name of the fund as listed in your grant agreement or grant letter.
  • Include logos. You may obtain the appropriate logos by contacting marketing@tahoecf.org
  • Events held at Donald W. Reynolds Community Nonprofit Center. Please indicate on materials that the space was donated by Tahoe Community Foundation.

Thank You Letters
and Donor Acknowledgement

You do not need to send a tax receipt, but if you want to send a thank you note to a Fundholder, please email it to: donor@tahoecf.org.

Be sure to use the fund name listed on your grant letter. Please note that we cannot provide donors’ personal contact information if it is not already included in your grant letter.

Tahoe Community Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to cultivating community philanthropy, serving as a resource for donors to make confident and meaningful investments in their community, and offering nonprofit organizations support, insight, and strategy. Tahoe Community Foundation is a pillar in the community, serving to create meaningful and lasting impact, and to Elevate Generosity in the Tahoe region and beyond.

Photos, videos and stories

Pictures and videos are the most effective way for people to see the work your organization is doing. Please provide the Community Foundation with any pictures, videos or other content and stories from your program. The Community Foundation may promote your program through annual reports, publications, on our website, or through our social media. Send photos, videos and stories to marketing@tahoecf.org. Please ensure that permission has been given to share these photos via a photo release form and include written permission for our use in the email.

Please use this logo for website acknowledgements and other digital uses. If you require different logo formats or anticipate using the logo for other uses, please contact marketing@tahoecf.org for other logo formats and approvals.
